DODANE TYPE 21 MILITARY WRIST WATCH TROPICAL DIAL WITH FLYBACK CHRONOGRAPH FUNCTION

This rare Vintage watch was designed in France by Dodane and assembled in Switzerland and was supplied to fighter pilots of the French "Air Force". This rare military chronograph, available at the DEANGELIS Boutique in Forte Dei Marmi, was produced according to specific needs of the French Ministry of Defense with the flyback chrono function. The watch was in fact able to compensate for the failure of the on-board devices that were used by the pilot as a navigation tool. Maintaining their precision, these chronographs withstood extreme demands in terms of acceleration, vibrations, temperature variations and resistance to magnetic effects. Under official control of the French General Staff, Dodane developed the TYPE 21 chronograph in 1950. The Ministry of Defense imposed essential rules for chronographs whose main feature was the "return in flight". The wording on the caseback “FG” meant “Fin de Garantie” (expiration of the warranty) shown only on models released for the armed forces and indicated the next service to which the watch would be subjected to guarantee excellent efficiency and reliability.
