400;\">Reference 6238 is the bridge between traditional Rolex chronographs and later modern Rolex chronographs. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introduced in the early 1960s, preceding the first Daytona by a few years, it was produced until 1967 when it completely gave way in the catalogue to the various versions of the Daytona: for this very reason the reference is known in the world of collectors with the nickname \u201cPre-Daytona\u201d to underline its role as predecessor of the famous model. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 6238 is the last chronograph produced by Rolex to have a smooth bezel and a graduated scale printed on the dial, speaking of the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> clock face<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Reference 6238 will also be the last to feature monochromatic dials (Rolex experimented with contrasting counters with this reference, with the very rare \u201cPanda\u201d version).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This timepiece features the dial commonly referred to as \u201cGun Metal\u201d, one of the rarest configurations for this
