The “World Hours” model is closely associated with Patek Philippe and is one of the house's signature complications. Based on the elegant solution of the famous watchmaker Louis Cottier (1894-1996), Patek launched the reference 1415 in 1939, their first world time (Heures Universelles) wristwatch.
From 1965 and therefore for more than 35 years, the complication had disappeared from the maison's offering. So, in 2000, Patek Philippe decided to bring the much-loved World Time complication back to life by returning to offer collectors a wide range of refined World Time wristwatches.
Introdotto nel 2000, il Patek Philippe ref. 5110 è stato il primo riferimento dell’ora mondiale prodotto in serie, e anche il primo dopo il leggendario ref. 2523. Ha apportato una visibile evoluzione rispetto alla ref. 2523 utilizzando un pulsante a ore 10 per impostare la città locale al posto della famosa seconda corona e effettuando una ulteriore evoluzione con il passaggio da un movimento a carica manuale a uno automatico. La referenza 5130 venne ufficialmente presentata nel 2006 inizialmente in Oro Bianco e in Oro Rosa e successivamente, nel 2007, la configurazione in Platino.
