Description

Rolex Precision Explorer 6150 Honeycomb 'Blackout' Radium Dial – Excellent Condition

The Rolex Explorer was first introduced in 1953. Initially, it was developed only for professional use as a prototype watch. One of the rarest and oldest examples of the “Explorer” model is the reference 6150 also called “Pre-Explorer” since it did not bear the famous “Explorer” writing on the dial.
This rare specimen is commonly called "Blackout" in collector jargon due to the patina due to the degradation of Radium, a luminescent material used until the early 1960s and subsequently replaced with Tritium due to its radioactive characteristics which were unknown at the time.

This second hand watch Rolex Explorer reference 6150 has the following characteristics:

Honeycomb “Blackout” Radium dial

Excellent aesthetic condition of case and dial
